Now that's too darned simple! ;) Way too obvious...... Our vet has a flea spray that works great without being too strong. I'll drop back by and get some more of it. Yep, we're fairly strong on staying away from harsh chemicals, but the vet's spray is about as organic as it comes. We had one dog die and another barely survived from dog collars, so we're a wee bit cautious. I tested the 3M brand of insect repellent this weekend. Kept the chiggers off (OFF didn't do anything), but the 3M actually attracted gnats, ga-zillions of 'em! The gnats swarmed around me even in 25 mph winds, so we know to never use that brand again. Eating some spicey beef jerky or taco flavored Doritos have been the best inset repellents so far. I like garlic, but not too sure about my customers. ... Support the coyote habitat..abandon cats in the country. ___ Blue Wave/QWK v2.12 --- * Origin: -->point MUDGE bbs * V32b * Shelton, WA USA<-- (9:2500/0) € [20] Survnet: SURVIVAL_ORIENTED TOPICS (9:91/0) €€€€€€€€€€ SURVIVAL_ORIENTED € Msg : 89 of 92 Rcv From : Thomas Bird 9:6100/88 Fri 16 Sep 94 03:22 To : Larry Gowdy Subj : Flea Collars €€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€ Check out what Larry Gowdy whined on 11 Sep 94 22:28:00: DT> Try dog or cat flea collars around the top of the boot. That is what LG> Now that's too darned simple! ;) Way too obvious...... Flea collars work for chiggers and other crawling insects *** BUT *** DO NOT ALLOW THE COLLARS TO CONTACT YOUR SKIN! Flea collars will cause severe irritation to the point of hospitalization. The chemicals in the collars are not human friendly. A few years back while doing some paintballing, one of the participants did the flea collar thing around his ankles and wrists. His legs and arms swelled up and broke into the worst bloody rash I have ever seen. He required hospitalization for two days and extensive medication for toxicity reaction. The doctor informed us he sees this quite often early in the hunting season each year. He told us it can be fatal if you have an allergy to the chemicals. The military had forbid the use of the collars for quite a while. It is odd that they are allowing it again. Sort of like the ole "Deet on the feet" trick to get out of patrol in Nam.
